Good song, but I am a big Aaliyah fan and if Drake has the power to finally release her unreleased music & to keep her relevant in this new generation im ok as long as Drake you got the permission from her family and Aaliyah's close collaborators/friends Timbaland & Missy Elliott. It would be damn disrespectful if you guys don't include Timbaland & Missy on the project or got the approval from her family. I remember a tweet from her brother earlier this year saying there wasn't any new music being released or approved by them. Other than that if Drake & his team went through the proper procedures I'm all for it!

P.S. can you guys release the original unreleased version as a fan I would love to hear how it originally sound before the remake.

I'm disappointed. You had a great Aaliyah track to rap on...stop talking about being rich, this wasn't the right venue for that...I expected something timeless that you couldn't provide.

How dumb are y'all? Do you think a top rated artist list Drake is going to produce a posthumous track without the permission from the family and estate? Y'all thinking level is on stupid. Stay in y'all lanes and just enjoy the music. By the way, I love the song. It's bitter sweet hearing Aaliyah's voice.

Anonymous said...

For the people complaining about drake verse...Do you realize Aaliyah's verses are about getting someone to open up and talk about whatever they want to and she'll just listen. To make the song complete he wrote about things he's thinking about hence him ending his verse "And I don’t know if speaking on it helps
This the shit that’s on my mind I just keep it to myself"..Be a fan and stop complaining

To all you people talkin bout asking Aaliyah's family - the music is on the label Blackground. Blackground IS her family. That's her uncle/cousin's record company.

Anonymous said...

I really wish Drake had left Aaliyah's music untouched. How he gon have her angelic voice on a track where he uses the term "b*tch" & is taking shots @ Chris Brown smh unless its going to be a collabo like Natalie Cole did with her father, ppl really need to leave the music of deceased artists alone

Anonymous said...

What iz a Drake but a lame duck???

Why yall so hype about Drake making a song with Aaliyah? I think it was so cool I was expecting more but it was good for what it was. I miss Aaliyah, I wish I could have gotten to see her growth into womanhood but hey things happen.

pecola said...

The thing that made Aaliyah really special, I think, was that her music is timeless. You can listen to "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number" or "One in a Million" now--over a decade after they were released--and the music feels like it could've been made yesterday. It's timeless.

This, though good for the moment, isn't timeless. Not even close.

Fireworks said...

What a great song!!! Love hearing Aaliyah's angelic voice...just wished Drake had a bigger singing/rapping part in song...

Love how he is so into her...like we are into him....

Vega1111 said...

It doesn't flow well & to say "Yo what's up" 8x on a 3min song & its not even the hook...Really?!? Should have listened to Timberland & Missy.

Anonymous said...

How stupid are people this man tweeted a pic with her brother when he first announced he was doing the project for aaliyah. and if he didnt get permission from the family and go thru the whole legal process im sure he wouldnt of put the song on the internet. stop trying to find negative reasons to ruin good artistry. and to the people who waste they time to get on here and hate and say the song sucks go to hell man. obviously your lonely as hell and your sitting in your room probably with no cable mad at the world so you wanna bring others down. regaurdless drake is a powerful man with a creative mind and people who respect him and aaliyah and real music will support. all that negative energy you put into your comments shows your lfe aint goin the way you want it to... RIP AALIYAH

btw, for those who think Drake is talking about being rich, clearly dont understand the concept of the song, in which case you can go fuck yourself with that opinion. I'm losing my patience with the stupidity and poorly researched arguments being made here.

Phuckyoego said...

Just when I think Drake can't sink any lower, he does this. First of all, why use a track with Aaliyah on it to diss someone else? What's the point? Second of all, this sounds nothing like an Aaliyah track, so is she your background singer? Lastly, why do you continuously claim to respect women, yet all you seem to do is manipulate and exploit them to boost your ego and your career? One more thing, I'm betting that you don't have the blessing of her family and that's even more disrespectful.

Lame fools hating on Drake. He took permission from her family so stop posting yo stupid ass comments about things u dont know. Plus yall talking about being an Aaliyah fan, if u truly are u would be happy hearing her voice again because of Drizzy. And eff Missy Eliott and Timberland. They aint sh** if they were good friends of the Late Aaliyah how come they never helped her in showing the world all her amazing unreleased tracks? Huh? Besides they never did a dedication song to her. And if u dont know Drizzy is a big fan of Aaliyah...so just let him honour her. And uhmm 'fore i go, Get A Life, Haters. Follow @LilTrendy if u teamdrizzy

No. Just no. Drake obviously had to get legal rights to this song to get his own producer to do it for him, and to take your whole bullshit 'family' aspect, drake posted a picture with Aaliyah's brother on a social networking site of some sort, stating that he was planning on doing the album. In the picture her brother wasn't shooting drake any bad looks. And the song has to do with Aaliyah listening to the problems of her peers or friends or something and drakes verse has to do with whats been on his mind and what hes been up to. big deal he dissed chris brown? Shit Rihanna will probably take Michael Jacksons 'beat it' and turn it in to 'beat on' ..... People need to get some knowledge and proper information about this music business and who is doing the business. Drake isn't some lame ass whack rapper, he's a young, talented man trying to make music. if you dont fucking like it.... Well simply put, get the fuck off his blog.

RellyRellz said...

I dont understand how people get off at saying he needed to ask permission to release this from friends and fam. The only way he couldve gotten that sample in the first place was by talking to the family about it.

If you dont appreciate good music, then don't hurt it. If you're a Drake hater and just want to shit on him, then you're using this as a cheap segue, in which case I say to thee "FUCK YOU!"

Anonymous said...

Y'all are truly some pathetic ass Stans. Just because someone doesn't like one of Drake's songs they are hater or a loser? What kind of mentality is that? You can't express a different opinion and still be a fan? You have to like everything that comes out by that person as soon as you hear it or agree with everything they say. That's a Stan. That's idolatry. Last time I checked Drake wasn't infallible. He's not god.

Anonymous said...

Aaliyah sounded beautiful as ever. I missed her voice. I wasn't really feeling the beat and the drums were boring. Drake didn't add anything special to the song. I don't have a problem with Drake producing the new album but I just hope he doesn't try to duet on all of the songs. I don't want to hear you Drake. You be quiet. I just want to hear Baby Girl Aaliyah. Aaliyah's music doesn't need any features.

Christina Fry said...

when i listening to the song drake or who ever reading this it made me cry just learning to my babygirl voice just wooooooooooo im so happy u didnt give up on babygirl i still to this day go buy her cds and pictures im glad blackgrounds is working with u o yeah i love aaliyah and know everyone of her songs and dances if it wasnt for her i wouldnt be the woman i am today babygirl love u and till jan 16th i will remember u again with this song THANKS DRAKE AGAIN

Megan said...

This song is amazing and 40 did a great job producing it. And I don't understand how it's disrespectful to Aaliyah. And if people do find it disrespectful at all... then don't listen to it and stop judging.

Anonymous said...

The fans have a right to speak, give their opinion and judge the song. I heard that Drake asked someone backstage did you like the show? He obviously cares about what his fans think. Without the fans there is no Drake. OK so for everyone dissing the fans... lets move on.
There was a diss on the song, some people believe that the diss should have been left off because its NEGATIVE (more like a childish beef). Kids being killed by guns is technically negative but its a real worldwide issue that deserves attention, as no one is asking him to rap about cupcakes and flowers.
People want to hear two talented people Aaliyah and Drake...and thats what we got. I would have preferred the diss not be in the song, because Aaliyah is so scared and CB is so freakin immature that he should have never received some attention in this song even if its a diss. Also that's all everyone is focusing on is the diss... its sad though.
The family approved it so lets move on with that...
Timbaland and Missy....ummm OK whatever. Timbaland already said what he had to say on the Breakfast Club a while back, we understand how he feels... Im sure they both will have more to say so lets just all stand by.... in the mean time enjoy it for what it is.

Anonymous said...

Amazing Work OVO

Anonymous said...

Aaliyah is so scared? what are you talking about she passed away already , RIP aaliyah

Anonymous said...

Some people say that Drake dissed Chris Brown in this song, and that its disrespectful to do it on any type of Aaliyah song.

The point of the song is to try and talk about whats on your mind.

Obviously the fact that Chris Brown keeps disrespecting him is on his mind.
And hes prolly tired of everyone comparing them two.

At the end of the verse Drake says "I dont know if talking about it helps, theres some shit thats on my mind, I just keep it to myself"

I dont think Drake was being disrespectful whats so ever.

wendyjoanna said...

I love Drake but I think he should have sang not rapped. It would have made the song better & it would have gone better with the beats. Aaliyah sounds perfect all these years and she's still lives through music and In our heart.

RellyRellz said...

Suggestion: all you anonymous ppl should at least post with a name cus its hard to keep track of all the arguments

Apart, from that, Its true what "anonymous1" said "CB is so freakin immature that he should have never received some attention in this song even if its a diss. Also that's all everyone is focusing on is the diss... its sad though."

AND.."Anonymous2" : Obviously the fact that Chris Brown keeps disrespecting him is on his mind.
And hes prolly tired of everyone comparing them two.

People don't pay attention to music structure anymore. They listen to one aspect and blow it completely out of proportion. The song is brilliant. I understand no everyone is forced to like it, but dont come off disrespectful talking about how Drake is a disgrace and all that nonsense. Just state that you don't like it and move on.

Damn, really on the fence with this one. Obviously sounds great to hear her voice again, and obviously a solid Drake verse, both of those things are a given. And I don't think that Drake would ever do something to intentionally disrespect Aaliyah and/or her memory, however, a couple things need to be said. #1 It's a little unsettling that he went ahead and did this without help or even the blessing of Missy and/or Timbaland. #2 If the "selling under 150" is meant to be a dig at a Certain someone, I think that on this new, unreleased Aaliyah track isn't really the appropriate place (ALTHOUGH, the theme of the song is Aaliyah wanting Drake to talk to him about what's on her mind, so i could see where he was going with that)....
All in all, great song, sends a chill down my spine to hear Aaliyah's voice again. As per usual, excellent production on 40's part...keep doin' it OVOXO!!!
Much respect and love,

On a lighter note..Can we talk about this line?
"Every million I gain an enemy or a cousin..." LOL to the cousin part. It always happens and I am sure it happened to Drake while out in Tennessee for CP. A random cousin that he never meet came out of the woodwork's. Well more like his 3rd cousins wife, second cousins daughter, 6th cousins aunt...lol Or maybe is just Ryan where did he come from after all years, he was never part of ATF.

I never thought there were still honest, genuine, trustworthy and very powerful spell casters until i met the spiritual helper, MERUJA OWO. last week he did a love spell for me and it worked effectively and now he just casted another healing spell for my friend who has fibroid and family problem and now she is totally free and she is presently the happiest person on earth, she keeps thanking me all day..
I just thought it would be good to tell the whole world about his good work and how genuine he is, i wasn't thinking i could get any help because of my past experiences with other fake casters who could not bring my husband back to me and they all promised heaven and earth and all they are able to do is ask for more money all the time until i met with this man. he does all spells, Love spells, money spells, lottery spells e.t.c i wish i can save every one who is in those casters trap right now because i went though hell thinking and hoping they could help me.i recommend MERUJA OWO for any kind of help you want.

This song could've been done better.

The concept of talking about your issues as therapy is nice. As far as Drake's verse is concerned, however, he had much more to say personally on tracks such as "Successful" that made the listener feel empathetic towards his situations in life.

Had this instrumental gone to well known RnB crooner The Weeknd, I'm sure he would've been far more creative with it and his choice words as well. Just look at what he did with a small sample on "What you need".

For sure, Drake is capable of bringing out the depth of a sample. We can clearly see this on tracks like "Unforgettable", or the recent "Cameras / Good ones Go". But, with that being said, the depth of this sample has yet to be seen.

Rated 7/10.

I have a number of thoughts..

This is a good single, not great however it is enjoyable. I think it shows that Drake and Noah are capable of producing a great album of Aaliyah's music.

Missy and Timbaland don't have to be a part of this project..no disrespect at all. Toward the end of her life, Aaliyah was taking more control of her music and was working with other producers. Her music belongs to the world, not her family..no disrespect at all. Listen to the background in her records, and listen to what 40 produces for Drake's background music. I think she would have liked working with these two because the three of them share, to a good degree, the same music sensibility.

These Canadian kids have a different swag about them however none of them seem to be disrespectful of the American artists...they celebrate them with that fresh style they're bringin'

With all of the success this fab four are having (Drake, 40, Oliver, Nikko), I hope that they stay the fab four, and don't let success, haters and/or interlopers
ruin their music making process and brotherhood.

All that said, take care of Noah. He has been sent here to provide more than the great beats he makes.

Aaliyah was Muslim.

The_Realiest_Lady said...

Missy and Timbaland should be apart of it bc they know more about Aaliyah. They were her best friends. They probably have unreleased music from her. I think it would be a great Album if everyone worked on it & have the blessing of her family.

The_Realiest_Lady said...

It would be really selfish to not include other celeberty friends of hers on the Album. She would love that.

Anybody that hates this song obviously didn't listen closely to the lyrics especially how drake told us why he wasn't gonna go back at cb nd didnt need a whole song to do it aaliyah lyrics were asking him to open up nd he did that he cant help that yal cant relate to him...drake doesn't need fan permission to do songs with her the family gave the blessing thats all that counts adding timb nd missy would be nice but they didn't do ish up til now so don't demand a part in it now...IF YOU DON'T LIKE DRAKE THEN WHY EVEN COME TO HIS BLOG...just searching to hate

Anonymous said...

Drake is a lyricist to the fullest. He loved Aaliyah and has prolly heard all of her unreleased music. He knows what she would like and would want to do with a record. You guys say that Missy and Timbaland should hav been involved, but if they heard about Drake possibly doing a project for her why didnt they reach out?? If they really wanted to be involved they could hav.

Drake is the future for sure. I wouldnt trust anyone else with Aaliyahs music. (my opinion)

Anonymous said...

You guys must be stupid. The only way I would ever approve of this song is for Timbaland and Missy to collaborate. Other than that, it's just disrespectful.

Anonymous said...

Timbaland and Missy had nothing to do with Drake's "Unforgettable", or The Weeknd's "What you Need". I do not see why they HAVE to be a part of "Enough Said". It is in no way disrespectful. It's just great music.

Just because someone dies doesn't mean everyone has to be all emotional over their long forgotten pieces of work. No one said that Thug Life should hold the right to be a part of all Tupac's music, or that Diddy should hold the right to all of Notorious's unreleased music.

If Timbaland and Missy want to do something productive and positive with her lost works, then why not go out and do the same thing Drake and Noah are doing by creating a full fledged album inspired by and through her? Oh yea, that's right. They did.

Might as well let someone else interpret her music for a try.

This is way more complex then most of you think. When you guys say "the families blessing" who are you referring too (Dad, Mom and Brother)? She is/was signed with Blackground Records which belongs to her Uncle Barry Hankerson.
Her brother posted this comment on her Facebook page "Do you want an AALIYAH album? If so, Who should executive produce it or be featured on it? The Haughton Family would love to hear what her FANS have to say?"
Her Uncle Barry is her family, yes that's true, so he of course he gave the blessing. Now as for the The Haughton Family we really do not know how they feel about this, Uncle Barry most likely owns the rights to her unreleased recordings.

Legally, yes it seems like its covered and all is good. Morally....guess we will have to wait and see.

FIRST = if those of you who say Tim + Missy shoulda been on it knew anything, you'd say so should R Kelly.
SECOND = you'd also know that Tim + MIssy only did a few songs on her last album cuz they were gougin her for money, so much for family....$150,000.00 a song!
THIRD = if you are an Aaliyah fan, y'know she'd love Drake and 40 and work with them in a heartbeat.

To all the people bagging on Drake and 40 saying they should get approval, check out the interview "Drake talks about Aaliyah collab". He says her family and old management support and are on board and will involved in it as well. Maybe if you'd look into things instead of just speculating you'd learn a couple things.

The_Realiest_Lady said...

I didn't say they HAve to be on Enough Said. I said it would be cool to have them on the Album. Now I don't know what's going on with everyone. That was just my opinion since she did do music with them & Timbaland spoke about it means that he would like to be apart of it. Y'all are trippin smh

Like Luther Vandross Album had different Artist that were inspired or were friends with him. Example..

Anonymous FIRST SECOND THIRD
Her fans want Tim and Missy. Go to her facebook page and you will see. Her brother asked the fans who they wanted... out of 3,000 plus responses I think like only 50 ppl said Drake and 40. 99% of the Aaliyah fans want Tim and Missy.
Also how much do you think 40 makes...? I'm sure its at least 150,000, I actually hope he makes more than 150,000 song.

Anonymous ...""Drake talks about Aaliyah collab". He says her family and old management support and are on board and will involved in it as well. Maybe if you'd look into things instead of just speculating you'd learn a couple things."

Her cousin and uncle gave Drake the approval because they own the record label and her unreleaesed songs. (Of course they would how else who he get the music..) Her mom, dad and brother did not give him the approval. So when Drake says family I think you should really understand who he is talking about. I would not sepculate and assume family means mom, dad and brother, read a little more you would learn a couple of things.

Aubrey I just wanted to take the time to say that you are absolutely a wonderful person. What you are doing with Aaliyah's pre-recorded music is what you call respect. Do what you do best and make music, why not do it with the one who influenced you. She is singing to you and both your voice and Aaliyah's collaborating is what makes your core hard and your heart whole. "Enough Said" is something I listen to while I fall asleep. Her beautiful voice and your real talk is what makes this song speak to everyone. A lot of people do not know what this song means but I do. I love you Aubrey Graham and have been a huge/real fan before the music. One love.

I believe 40 and drake can make an aaliyah album happen but I also feel in order for it to be all that it can be, meaning not only a great album but a album that is truely accepted her fans and maybe even her family, missy and tim need to be involved. I have no doubt the music is going to be great because it hey its AALIYAH’s music. Enough said was beautiful didn’t even need drake on it if you ask me. I support any Aaliyah music being released because she is all my all time favorite artist and I also support Drake he is my favorite male artist. I support letting this project happen because altho aaliyah is not here to approve I feel angels have ways of making things happen.so if its ment to be let it happen. As far her family goes I don’t think they will ever be comfortable with doing anything that means even more things that will bring them back to a time where they where in denial that she was truely gone.Who wants to relive that pain? and new music will have you thinking she is still alive…but I gues thats the point..I want Drake to do this but I hope he does it right way or non of his fans will respect him in the same way becus most likely if your a drake fan your an aaliyah fan too but Aaliyah comes first always…respect her legacy as one of the best artist to walk this earth or don’t mess with it at all!_love Aaliyah&drake always

I think it's a beautiful collab, if you will. Yes, Aaliyah has passed, but it's beyond amazing to hear her voice again...it's so smooth & angelic, to say the least. And, as an artist/business man, everything in regards to this track IS legit. I guess ppl don't know about the music/business industry. Drake is bringing something new to the plate. How, exactly, would he be "disrespecting" Aaliyah, when he put her amazing voice on the track? She was OBVIOUSLY an inspiration to him, and he loves her voice/talent, as much as MANY of us do. He's not disrespecting her in anyway, whatsoever! He's obviously telling everyone that he loves her voice and RESPECTS her music! I think the track is hott. Enough said. Aailyah...one love, R.I.P. baby girl!!!
